    On Tuesday, August 30th, SouthGrow representatives led by Mayor Kym Nichols, Village of Carmangay, met with the MLAs in the SouthGrow region.  In attendance to learn about SouthGrow initiatives were Broyce Jacobs, MLA Cardston-Taber-Warner, Barry McFarland, MLA Little Bow, Bridget Pastoor, MLA Lethbridge East and Lorne Darlington, representative for Greg Weadick, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology and MLA Lethbridge West.  SouthGrow representatives informed the group about how SouthGrow's key initiatives align with the themes in the Premier's Council for Economic Strategy's "Shaping Alberta's Future."  Specifically:

    • Broadening the Economic Base - Alternative Energy & Community Capacity Building;
    • Preparing to Prosper in a Global Economy - Productivity Improvement;
    • Providing a Strong Platform to Sustain Economic Growth - Water for Economic Development;
    • Investing in Shaping the Future - Rural Sustainability Project.

    SouthGrow will be holding another MLA Roundtable to update the group on the progress of these initiatives before year end.

    World Renowned Speaker at Lethbridge College September 16th

    Main Content Inline Small

    The Pembina Institute and the Solar Society of Alberta have partnered to bring world renowned speaker Christine Worlen from Germany to speak at Lethbridge College on September 16th at 1:30 p.m.   She has speaking engagements across the province through the week and Lethbridge College is fortunate enough to get her to come out to Lethbridge before she flies out of Calgary that evening.

    Why Should You Attend?  Christine's experience in integrating renewables into urban settings sets up a great opportunity to learn more about what municipal leaders, economic developers and residents can do here in southern Alberta.  Dr. Christine Worlen will be speaking in Residence Hall which is located North of the DA Electric Barn, represented in pink on this map:  http://www.lethbridgecollege.ca/campus-maps
